The MYP Personal Project is a significant component of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Curriculum.As a year-long research-based andstudent-led project, it encourages studentsto delve into their passions, choose their own project topic, conduct thorough research, and bring their ideas to reality,while developing valuable ATL skills such as self-management, critical thinking, and communication. Students will also create a final product that reflects their learning, which will prepare them for future academic life and beyond.

Recently, our MYP5 students finally had their chance to share their personal project to the community. During the MYP Personal Project assembly and exhibition, they talked about their own goals, intended product, successes or failures and ATL skills they learned during the duration of the project. 學(xué)生Angel在展示會上分享了她的個人設(shè)計項目旅程——開設(shè)戲劇表演課外課程（CASE）。盡管一路上她面臨了許多挑戰(zhàn)、失誤，但她都一一堅持下來，還學(xué)到了關(guān)鍵的ATL技能，如溝通、思考、自我管理、社交和研究等能力。另外，她還建議未來參與該項目的學(xué)生應(yīng)提前做好準(zhǔn)備，做好時間管理，平衡好日常學(xué)習(xí)和個人設(shè)計項目的時間。總的來說，Angel在這段項目經(jīng)歷中收獲了許多寶貴的學(xué)習(xí)技能，也為她未來的戲劇學(xué)習(xí)做好了準(zhǔn)備。

During the assembly, Angel, our MYP5 student, shared her personal project journey which involved starting a drama CASE at school. Despite facing challenges and making mistakes along the way, she persevered and learned important ATL skills such as communication, thinking, self-management, social, and research. She advises future MYP5 students to be prepared to manage their time and balance their studies with the project. Overall, Angel"s personal project experience helped her gain valuable skills and prepare for her future studies in theater.

學(xué)生Cici選擇制作一款原創(chuàng)香水產(chǎn)品來作為MYP個人設(shè)計項目的主題。在展示會上，她分享此次主題的靈感來源是她熱愛香水的母親，這驅(qū)使著她去了解不同類型的香水及其運作原理。Cici在尋找制作精油方法的過程中遇到了一些困難，但她憑借著批判性思維和研究技能，讓一切問題迎刃而解，最終成功地完成了這一項目。

Cici chose to make an original perfume for her MYP Personal Project. Her love for perfumes, instilled by her mother, drove her to understand the different types of fragrances and how they work. Cici faced difficulties in finding the appropriate way to make essential oils, but with her critical thinking and research skills, she successfully managed to complete the project on time.

問： 在這個項目中，你遇到了什么困難，以及如何克服這些困難？

Cici： 最初，找到正確的方法來制作精油對我來說是一項很大的挑戰(zhàn)。在嘗試了各式各樣的方法后，蒸餾法被證明是最好的方法，但是它至少需要五個小時才能提煉出精油。為了解決這一時間問題，我做了一些調(diào)研，發(fā)現(xiàn)使用煤氣加熱蒸餾瓶會比電磁爐快得多。因此，我最終采用了煤氣加熱法，節(jié)省了許多時間。我想這是我在項目中所遇到的一項較大的挑戰(zhàn)。

Question:What hardships did you face during the project and how did you overcome them?

Cici: Initially, finding the appropriate method to make essential oil was challenging. After trying different ways, distillation proved to be the best method, although it took at least five hours to produce the oil. To address this issue, I researched and discovered that using gas to heat the distillation flask was quicker than an electromagnetic furnace. Consequently, I opted to use coal gas, which was much faster. This was a significant challenge encountered during the project.

Iris pursued learning the guitar and holding concerts for her MYP Personal Project. Despite starting from scratch as a beginner in guitar, Iris presevered and navigated through deadlines, changes, and endless hours of practice. Her hard work paid off when she wowed audiences at events like TWIS Chinese New Year Gala, Dongguan Christmas Bazaar, and her own personal concert at school.

Ryan在他的個人設(shè)計項目中的目標(biāo)是通過制作一只機械手臂來實現(xiàn)他的夢想。除了基于對機器的興趣外，他還希望能夠在過程中學(xué)到新技能，包括3D建模、3D打印和編程技術(shù)。在多次實踐中，他認(rèn)為自己提高了ATL技能，特別是學(xué)會在研究前先思考，尋求專業(yè)幫助，以及學(xué)會使用電路。

Ryan"s goal in his personal project is to fulfill his dream of building a robotic arm. Hechose this topic due to his interest in machines and desire to learn new skills, including 3D modeling, 3D printing, and programming. During the process, he learned and improved his ATL skills, especially in thinking first before researching, seeking professional help, and using circuits.

問： 在完成個人設(shè)計項目的過程中，有哪些人為你提供了幫助？

Ryan： 我要感謝我的導(dǎo)師Mr. Anar，他教會我如何使用3D打印機，并對我的個人設(shè)計項目提出寶貴的建議。同時，感謝我們的MYP協(xié)調(diào)員Mr. PJ幫助我們檢查產(chǎn)品質(zhì)量，并提供許多項目細(xì)節(jié)給我們。另外，DP大學(xué)預(yù)科項目一年級的學(xué)生Hao也給我推薦了許多編程教程和自學(xué)網(wǎng)站。最后，感謝我的父母、朋友和老師在困難時期對我的支持。沒有他們，我的項目可能不會成功。

Question:Who would you like to thank for helping you with your project?

Ryan:I want to thank my supervisor Mr. Anar for teaching me how to use the 3D printer and giving me advice on my personal project. Also, thanks to our MYP coordinator Mr. PJ for reviewing the quality of our work and providing details on official specifications. DP1 Hao gave me programming advice and recommended self-learning websites. Finally, thanks to my parents, friends, and teachers for their support during difficult times. Without them, my project may not have been successful.

Wendi選擇設(shè)計一款三維游戲來作為他的個人設(shè)計項目。他認(rèn)為，游戲不僅可以給玩家?guī)碛鋹偢校€可以傳達游戲創(chuàng)造者的想法和內(nèi)容。在工具方面，他采用了Unity——一個跨平臺的2D和3D游戲引擎、3D建模軟件，以及編程軟件來制作游戲。

Wendi chose 3D game design as his personal project. He believes that games can bring happiness and convey meaningful opinions and truths to players. In terms of the tool, he used Unity, a cross-platform 2D and 3D game engine,3D modeling software, and programming software to create the game.

問： 在完成個人設(shè)計項目的過程中，你遇到過什么困難？

Wendi：在個人項目期間，我?guī)缀鯖]有睡過一個好覺，因為我一直在想未完成的作品。然而，我激勵自己，完成它就能結(jié)束這種壓力。我最終堅持下來，還學(xué)會了即使在困難的時候，也要不斷地努力。如果再給我一次機會，我會選擇做2D游戲，因為3D游戲?qū)ξ疫@樣的初學(xué)者來說充滿了挑戰(zhàn)性。此外，我也意識到時間管理的重要性，以及日積月累的實踐才是獲得成功的關(guān)鍵。

Question:What difficulties did you face during your personal project?

Wendi:During the Personal Project,I hardly ever got a good night"s sleep because I was constantly thinking about the unfinished work. However, I reminded myself that completing it would put an end to the stress. I persevered through this and learned that it"s important to keep pushing yourself even when the going gets tough. If given another chance, I would choose to do 2D games because 3D games are more challenging for beginners like me. Additionally, I realized the importance of time management and daily planning in achieving success.
