上一學(xué)年，我們通過選舉各年級(jí)學(xué)生代表邁出了賦予學(xué)生權(quán)力的第一步。本學(xué)期，在經(jīng)歷了一系列提名、競選、選舉和投票等環(huán)節(jié)后，東華文澤學(xué)校（TWIS）學(xué)生會(huì)正式于10月初成立了！

Last semester, we took a whole school approach to empower our students by electing student class representatives. In October of this semester, Tungwah Wenzel International School is delighted to announce that TWIS Student Council is officially launched following a strict protocol of nominating, campaigning, electing and voting.

東華文澤學(xué)校成立學(xué)生會(huì)的主旨在于，鼓勵(lì)學(xué)生以投票的形式選舉學(xué)生會(huì)成員，讓其為廣大學(xué)生爭取權(quán)益而發(fā)聲。學(xué)生會(huì)的成立為學(xué)生提供了一個(gè)發(fā)聲渠道或交流平臺(tái)，讓每位學(xué)生都擁有發(fā)言權(quán)。同時(shí)，學(xué)生會(huì)還擁有組織各種全校性活動(dòng)的機(jī)會(huì)，極大地豐富學(xué)生的課余生活。

The mission of the Student Council at Tungwah Wenzel International School is to enhance student welfare by representing student interests to the larger TWIS community; to augment student life by facilitating school-wide activities and events; and to give each student a voice by providing a student-led platform for communication.

作為學(xué)校教育的主體，學(xué)生可以通過學(xué)生會(huì)這一平臺(tái)參與學(xué)校管理。在這一過程中，學(xué)生可以調(diào)動(dòng)IB教育理念所倡導(dǎo)的學(xué)習(xí)能動(dòng)性，學(xué)會(huì)更積極主動(dòng)地參與學(xué)校社區(qū)的學(xué)習(xí)與社交生活。

As significant members of the school community, students who are engaged in the Student Council have more chances to participate in school administration. Student Agency, as aligned with the IB philosophy, can also be exercised by giving students the responsibility to act effectively in the context of learning and participating in social events.

根據(jù)東華文澤學(xué)校的學(xué)生會(huì)章程，MYP中學(xué)一年級(jí)至DP大學(xué)預(yù)科項(xiàng)目二年級(jí)的每一位學(xué)生在開學(xué)之初需選出相應(yīng)的年級(jí)代表來參與學(xué)生會(huì)競選。在全校投票日前，每一位參選成員都可以通過述職演講來爭取其他學(xué)生的選票。

According to the constitution of the TWIS Student Council, each student from MYP 1 to DP 2 is expected to elect the homeroom representatives to run for the Student Council at the beginning of the school year. Each candidate has time to campaign and present their school plan before the election day.

“Some of you know me and some of you don’t. I will start off by briefly introducing myself, I am an easy-going person, a respectful communicator, and a responsible leader that cares for others.

I have a lot of ideas on what we can do to further improve our school community. I have experience in different activitiesthat I’ve done at the previous schools I enrolled in. So I want to be the one leading everyone toward that goal.

Secondly, if you’re interested in joining more contests outside of school, we can help apply for that. I can promise you that it will be a precious experience and a great benefit for your college application. You will get to know people from other schools, share your knowledge, and gain confidence!

Becoming a part of the Student Council means we will be having the responsibility of implementing sustainable developments in our school,and we’ll need your help to give us suggestions and ideas.

As a leader, I can promise you that I will listen to your voice and take action to make our school better and better.Remember, as a part of our school community, your voice matters, and I will be sure to speak for you. “This is my third year at TWIS, and I want to campaign for vice president in the Student Council. You might not know me. I am the rapper from the talent show, the boy who received a lot of certificates last year, or just a nerd who cannot do anything well but study, but Ihave the resolution to be a vice president of the Student Council...

The first reason why I want to join the Student Council is that I want todevelop my own ability, learnhow to collaborate with others and challenge myself.The second reason is that I want to make a contribution to the school. Myparents taught me always to be grateful for everything I have; therefore, Iwant to give back to the school that taught me so much.The third reason is that I want todevelop my sense ofresponsibility.

If I become the vice president, I would like to advance ourschool"s sports team.I hope our sports team can practice regularly every day inthe future because this can train the students" spirit of perseverance.And I would like to carry out a series of activities that have been highlypraised such as game night, sports tournament, spirit week, and so on.

I will also set up a suggestion box, where anyone can put their ownopinions in it. Onlyin this way can we make our school move forward."

“I am so happy and proud to have the chance that is given by my classmates to be the representative for them to attend the election.

It is not just an honour for me but for all of my classmates to get the chance to serve everyone at our lovely school. I am ready to cooperate with all the members of the Student Council if I am able to be selected as the secretary.

"You might be wondering what the Student Council secretary does. The Student Council secretary basically does the paperwork and records all the things the council has done. And the Student Council plans and makes events in school, including fundraisers and performances. The Student Council is also the voice for other students and their opinions and needs.

Why am I right for this position? As the Student Council secretary, I will mainly be taking minutes which are meeting notes and documenting other events as I have already mentioned as well as achievements of the council.

I would easily complete these tasks using my ATL skills. I will be glad to bring any of your suggestions and opinions not only from my grade but anyone else to the council to be discussed and hopefully be acted upon. I also plan to suggest to the council to survey the school lunch and snacks to ensure that every student is eating well and healthy. I also plan to suggest surveying all the other students on the CASE experiences to help make their after-class activities more enjoyable.

With my past achievements and experience, I believe I could be a great addition to the Student Council, and I would do my best to make your educational experiences more enjoyable as well. ”

“What does treasurer mean? Treasurer means an officer entrusted with the receipts and taking care of the funds.

What does the treasurer do? The treasurer of a society or organization is the person who is in charge of its finance and keeps its accounts.

Why do I want to be the treasurer? Because I want to help TWIS Student Council manage the money. If I am a treasurer, I will allocate the funds sensibly and act morally."
